Blog Under Construction
I am going back to school in the fall at UVU to finish up my bachelor's degree. With the anticipation of limited time I've decided to resurrect the Ostler family blog in the hope that the newsletters won't die due to neglect. The Ostler family blog is currently being reconstructed to actually work so that everyone can participate or contribute to a greater or lesser degree. Watch for exciting updates and instructions coming this summer 2010. -Jane

Ostler Family Reunion in Omaha
The Omaha Ostler 2008 reunion was held by Jeremy and Mary Ostler. The following pictures (video) are some of the many things they had planned for us.
Guitar Hero play-offs. We have lots of rock and roll stars in our family! Repairs needed to be done here and there on the Mara Jeremy Hotel...including a flood from one of the kids putting a hose turned on full blast in the window well and finding it a half hour later. Many tender moments with the kids and the adults....like with grandma Judy. All in all it was jammed packed and made us all so thirsty. Jeff and Jared got tired of waiting for their turn on guitar hero so they air-guitared it up double decker style.
There was time for trampoline jumping and football tosses and pool ball tournament and bowling tournament. Jeremy and Mary had some pretty spectacular trophies for each of the events they had planned.
This set of pictures show Kim holding two trophies...hers from 1st place bowling and Daddy's from 1st place pool tournament. Also our boy scouts of the family getting our fire started. We all decided Jon has some huge lungs! Little buddies sitting paired off here and there enjoy puddings and the such. The mighty axe wielders chopping the wood so hard - they didn't know their own strength and broke the axe (way to go Jeremy and Jared) Then it was time to just sit and enjoy the fire.
The kids loved the various playgrounds that mahoney park had ...just not enough time to go to all of them!! Nevertheless the campout was great fun! We had our basketball freethrow competition that Trevor won and the chili cook off that he just smoked everyone on! Congrats! And we had our Jack Nicholson look a like characaturist that did pictures of all the couples.
The football competition and scooter races. Our champs for kids scooters were Brayden and for adults LeAnn took it - along with a nasty big black and blue bruise on her arm! The adults decided the scooters were harder for fat people than the kids and all played on them til they literally dropped.
We went to the Henry Doorly Zoo (5th in the nation) and enjoed watching the kids light up over the animals (and some of the adults). Even getting eaten by the hippo was fun ...huh Isabella!Then back to the MJ Palace to rest up a bit and let the kids play on the "big toy" they built in their yard. Later on there was lazer tag which Trevor again took the trophy for - way to go Trevor!! By the way - I forgot to mention Sara took the trophy home for miniature golf! We all played so hard every day that it just plain and simple wore Jeremy and Mary out! (after all they only had 18 guests at their house!!!! Some 40lbs of lunch meat later and toys from all the good times all over everyone had a great week!
Cute and cuddly you should be able to see everyone in one picture or another.......Jeremy, Mary, Caleb, Jake, Sam, Jared, Gina, Kim and Justin, Aaron, Kristyn, Nicholas, Josh, Jon, LeAnn, Sam, and Olivia, Sara, Trevor, Sharon, Brayden, Isabella, Rosalie, Jeff and Judy whew! That was a lot!! Thank you to everyone who came and shared their families with us!

The Ostlers Online
In a family history interview of Viola Josephine McPhie Ostler I asked her the following question, "What is one thing you want for your children and grandchildren after you've passed on?" She replied, "That they stay together, no matter what."
So far we've continued that legacy through email newsletters, family gatherings, and our personal correspondence with each other. Our close knit family is getting bigger and bigger every month and more Ostlers and McPhies are being discovered in the forest of family trees.
It's so amazing that though our family is spread out over several states and across oceans, we can still be quickly connected; a vision not readily available at the time of Boyden or Viola's passing. My hope with this wonderful tool of technology is that we remain closely tied through a centralized location of communication. That stories, events, photographs, histories, and family are shared to fulfill a wish to "stay together, no matter what".
